Front end Developer

AREWA Health is developing software to help doctors document tools faster, with fewer mistakes, and send them to patients, who can access their medical findings.

The goal is to reduce child and mother mortality.

Role Title:

Frontend Developer

Team Context:

You will join a cross-functional team building data-driven healthcare tools, combining backend logic with frontend design, collaborating with physicians who are new to digital tools.

Technical Expectations:

• Strong frontend development skills (Next.js)
• Develop scalable React components with Next.js (App Router experience preferred)
• Implement SSR and CSR logic based on performance needs
• Build UI with component-driven architecture (e.g., Storybook, Atomic Design)
• Translate designs into accessible, responsive UI
• Set up frontend state management
• Handle client-side data fetching, pagination, filtering, lazy loading
• Write frontend tests (unit, integration, e2e with Cypress or Playwright)
• Deliver production-ready, accessible frontend code with a performance-first mindset
• Design and maintain RESTful APIs using Django/Django REST Framework
• Define API contracts and versioning strategies
• Secure endpoints with modern auth standards (JWT, OAuth2)
• Experience with core AWS services: EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway
• Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform
• Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD)
• Manage secrets securely (AWS Secrets Manager or SSM)
• Understand advanced AWS components (WAF, OIDC, S3 logging)

Must-Have Skills:

• At least 5+ years of experience with Next.js and React
• Strong proficiency with modern TypeScript
• Deep understanding of REST API design patterns
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Basic knowledge of Terraform and containerization (Docker)
• Passion for current web technologies

• UI Excellence: Ensure components are polished, performant, and production-ready.
• Connection to backend: Communicate clearly with backend developers to align systems.
