Job Description:

In order to support FCAS CC Teams, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Network Engineer FCAS (d/f/m). This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your tasks and responsibilities

Mission of the Job

  • Propose and develop methods and strategies for robust and resilient FCAS communication activities.
  • Work closely within an Agile team, collaborating with Airbus and international partners.

Main activities include:

  • Developing novel methods for orchestrating flying networks using optical communications in a meshed topology.
  • Optimizing metrics such as delay, BER/FER, network availability, and throughput.
  • Evaluating approaches in an emulation environment.
  • Creating technical documentation and contributing to demonstrators for customer presentations.
  • Systems engineering tasks using DOORS and CAMEO.
  • Analyzing operational requirements and deriving functional requirements.
  • Proposing and leading high-risk innovative ideas.

Education/Training

  • Object-oriented programming (e.g., C++, Python)
  • Cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines
  • Unix system skills
  • MBSE tools (DOORS and CAMEO) are a plus

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in aerospace or telecommunications
  • Experience with communication protocols, QoS, routing, control, and management
  • Hands-on experience with network protocol stacks on Unix, including routing and queuing
  • Knowledge of Layer 2 network protocols, especially for fast packet forwarding
  • Experience with distributed VMs and containerization
  • Experience with 5G/6G networks is beneficial
  • Knowledge of free-space optical communications is a plus
