Consulting Services, a part of GE Vernova, has offices in 22 countries and offers our global clients (external & internal GE Vernova) a wide range of solutions across the entire spectrum of power generation delivery and utilization. Our Power Economics team provides analyses focused on understanding and studying the financial and physical operation of electric power systems, including generation and grid planning, system optimization, asset valuation, competitive power markets, and energy policy implications. Our Grid Stability & Interconnection team leverages deep knowledge of connected power grid planning, design, operation, and lifecycle management to offer customized solutions to our global clients. Over 700 users worldwide utilize our Concorda Suite of software tools to assess the economics, performance, and reliability of interconnected power systems. We also offer a comprehensive range of education courses through our Power Systems Engineering Course.
This position is for an Applications Engineer in the Munich Grid Interconnection and Stability team within the Consulting Services organization, working cross-functionally with several teams and GE Vernova businesses.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Leading and executing electrical power system studies, including proposing, planning, managing, performing analysis, and reporting, to meet the needs for reliability and performance of emerging grids with increasing shares of power electronics equipment.
- Performing independent analyses of steady-state and dynamic performance, as well as conducting various types of modeling and simulation.
- Communicating effectively with clients to support their analytical, equipment design, application, and/or compliance needs, and resolving issues promptly.
- Supporting the development of power electronic-based equipment and controls products based on evolving codes and standards.
- Actively participating in a team environment where teamwork, quality, customer service, and innovation are valued.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in electrical or power systems engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electric power engineering, power electronics converter design, modeling, simulation, and grid applications and operation.
- Ability to independently perform engineering analysis, develop solutions in a team environment, and provide technical consulting to customers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction at all levels within GE Vernova and with customers.
- Ability to develop and maintain a pipeline of consulting projects with external and internal clients.
- Strong project management skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed.
- Passion for working in an open, collaborative, and supportive environment where team members assist each other in solving challenging technical problems.

Electric Power Systems Engineering
- Analyzing and providing mitigation and solutions for grid control coordination, resonances, control interactions, and subsynchronous torsional interactions.
- FACTS control system design, analysis, simulations, and testing.
- Power flow, dynamics, harmonics, short circuits, modeling, and analysis.
- Assessment and application of technical and regulatory codes and standards.
- Proficiency in power system analysis using dynamic & EMT simulation and analytical tools such as PowerFactory, PSS/E, PSCAD, EMTPrv, RTDS, Python, MATLAB, and MS Office.
- Active participation in industry societies like IEEE, IEC, CIGRE, or other recognized organizations; EIT, PE license.
- Pending or awarded patents.
