Development Engineer Mechanical Design (f/m/d)

We are looking for a Development Engineer Mechanical Design (f/m/d) for the Development department at the Wetzlar site as soon as possible.

In the Development department, various disciplines such as software, optics, electronics, and mechanics are combined to develop high-quality handheld and vehicle-based optronic systems. Our observation devices combine information from multiple sensors operating at visible and infrared wavelengths to provide the user with reliable information even under the most challenging conditions and ensure mission success.

Your Tasks

  • Design of complex opto-mechanical systems and associated assembly and test equipment.
  • Creation of concepts taking into account functional, economic, and time requirements.
  • Coordination and consideration of technical requirements from optical design, electronics development, and assembly.
  • Specification of materials, surfaces, and manufacturing processes.
  • Documentation and presentation of the developed design solutions and provision of all necessary design documents in the data management system (SAP).
  • Calculation and budgeting of tolerance chains, taking into account manufacturability and adjustability as well as carrying out strength calculations.
  • Determination of test requirements and participation in engineering tests and verification.
  • Accompanying the start of production and supporting series production.
  • Close cooperation in interdisciplinary project teams and with external partners.

Your Profile

  • Degree in precision engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, or similar.
  • Several years of professional experience in design, preferably in the field of optomechanics.
  • Experience in working with SAP.
  • Experience with composite materials and finite element analysis advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge of a 3D CAD system, preferably Creo4.
  • Affinity for optical and optoelectronic devices.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Creative and solution-oriented way of working as well as strong communication skills and team orientation.
  • Very good knowledge of German and English.
