About

As the asset manager of Munich Re and ERGO, MEAG significantly contributes to the success of Munich Re Group. Our staff bring together peerless expertise across relevant asset classes and drive our success as one of the world's top asset managers.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our Data Enablement Team within the (Gen)AI Transformation Management department. The team manages data architecture, pipelines, and governance (including compliance) to enable the creation of AI agents that power impactful AI use cases, enhancing our business daily.

Responsibilities

  1. Define data structure and quality standards for processing structured data.
  2. Align data pipeline requirements for structured data with Munich RE IT.
  3. Develop data cubes for insights generation.
  4. Ensure compatibility between structured data and (Gen)AI model requirements.
  5. Develop and maintain high-quality documentation of data sources, flows, and assets to facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization.
  6. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, engineers, and other teams to understand data needs, support data initiatives, and identify opportunities for data-driven innovation.
  7. Stay updated with emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in data management, AI, and ML, applying this knowledge to improve data enablement services and capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Several years of experience with traditional AI or GenAI solutions.
  • At least 3 years of experience in data engineering.
  • Proficiency in data wrangling, pipeline management, and data quality frameworks/best practices.
  • Expertise in programming languages (e.g., Python, C++), query languages (e.g., SQL), and familiarity with big data tools (e.g., Apache Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure).
  • Experience working with both unstructured and structured data to ensure model compatibility, including creating data models, cubes, and relationship mapping, as well as transforming data into vector embeddings and feature tables, with proficiency in data annotation and metadata tagging tools (e.g., Dataloop AI, AWS SageMaker).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Business proficiency in English (C1) and German (C1) is required.
