Sales Manager, Cosmetic Ingredients (DACH) – Germany (Remote) - Mid-Sized Manufacturer
Irving Knight has partnered with a highly innovative and reputable Cosmetic Ingredient Manufacturer to identify a Sales Manager focused on the DACH region. My client is very well known for their Preservatives and Actives but boasts a portfolio of 300+ scientifically backed ingredients.
Interestingly, my client invests 4% of all revenue into R&D and releases six new ingredients per year on average, making them one of the most innovative companies on the market. They also possess a 50/50 gender diversity split at management level.
This role will focus on growing the existing €2m business across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The role is fully remote with 30% travel across the region and involves managing two distribution partners. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Reporting to the EMEA Sales Director, you will be responsible for driving business growth across DACH, with up to 30% travel.
- Utilize product knowledge and sales experience to effectively communicate the value proposition.
- Maintain and enhance customer service levels through innovative service initiatives.
- Monitor industry changes, emerging markets, new products, and competitive landscapes, providing analysis and insights.
- Participate in industry tradeshows and events as required and recommend new opportunities for engagement.
- Represent the company at conferences, industry events, and on social media platforms.
- Apply effective sales techniques to prospect new customers and communicate the brand's presence.
- Advance prospects through the sales process to secure new business.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations and product demonstrations, both in person and virtually.
- Arrange in-person visits with customers involved in purchasing, R&D, and marketing.
- Address customer questions and concerns promptly and accurately.
- Send quotes and samples to customers as needed.
- Participate in new product launches, training, joint sales calls, and testing activities.
- Report customer issues, meetings, and opportunities through call reports and emails.
- Collaborate closely with product management, pricing, and R&D teams.
Qualifications
- A technical degree (BSc or higher) in Chemistry, Pharmaceuticals, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
- Proven experience in acquiring new customers and driving sales growth, with measurable results.
- Minimum of three years selling Cosmetic Ingredients, ideally within Germany and the DACH region; seven or more years is preferred.
- Fluency in English and German is essential; additional languages are highly advantageous.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic with a positive attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.
- Existing network within the Personal Care industry is preferred.
- Willingness to travel more than 30% of the time.
