Product Design at Zalando is a community of 200 product designers, content designers, and user researchers.

The Zalando Design System (ZDS) design team enables Zalando teams to create consistent customer experiences across customer journeys. We aim to make our digital products the best possible expression of our brand and continually raise the quality bar of our user interfaces. The next stage of our evolution takes the design system beyond consistency to journeys that are coherent and configurable. You will be part of a team that ensures design quality across all facets of UI, illustration, motion, etc.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Take the lead on expanding a unified, cohesive set of UX and visual guidelines for Zalando's mobile & web fashion store
• Plan strategically as a partner with engineering, product, and brand teams to define the future of design systems at Zalando
• Create high-quality interactive prototypes to communicate your work, using user research and data to inform your reasoning
• Represent the team by sharing your work and presenting cross-functionally. Be able to precisely articulate design rationale and goals
• Be a key contributor in creating consistent customer experiences across our customer journeys
• Contribute to the Zalando Product Design community by sharing best practices, mentoring, teaching colleagues, crafting best-in-class solutions, raising standards in design reviews, and sparking inspiring conversations

WE'D LIKE TO MEET YOU IF...

• You have experience with mature design systems. Concrete experience with design tokens and/or theming is very desirable
• You lead by example with inspiring UI craft
• You are experienced with accessibility and motion design
• You possess a solid range of design skills, including user research, workshop facilitation, UX and UI design, ensuring fluid and holistic customer journeys
• You have fostered partnerships and supported broader product teams in applying the system around individual product constraints
• You are a strong cross-functional partner, having worked closely with engineers, a great communicator, and approach problems holistically as a unified system
• You can precisely articulate design rationale and present to diverse stakeholders from across the company
