The Role

Black Semiconductor GmbH is looking for a skilled and experienced Wafer Sorting and Logistics Engineer(f/m/d) to join the team in Aachen, Germany. This role involves exploring and implementing wafer sorting, FOUP & RFID technologies for their 300mm Wafer Fabrication plant, providing process engineering solutions, and ensuring continuous optimization. The position also includes training and supporting technicians, maintaining high system uptime, and driving process improvements

The ideal candidate will have experience in semiconductor wafer sorting, RFID integration, and a solid background in automation and logistics within a high-tech manufacturing environment

To join our team, you should be excited to

  • Explore and benchmark available Wafer Sorting, FOUP, and RFID technologies to identify the most suitable solutions for the needs of our new 300mm Wafer Fabrication plant
  • Oversee buy-off, commissioning, and optimization of Wafer Sorters & FOUPs into our shop floor environment in a timely manner
  • Provide process engineering solutions to ensure safe ramp-up and continuous improvement of Wafer Sorter & FOUP usage processes
  • Enable traceability and control through RFID integration of FOUPs and equipment load ports, involving hardware and network connectivity
  • Define and govern Load Port requirements for equipment procurement by defining de-facto standards for Load Port Integration
  • Ensure high uptime and availability of the Wafer Sorter & FOUP systems
  • Lead and train a team of technicians to provide 24x7 support for the repair and maintenance of Wafer Sorters & FOUP systems

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or an equivalent Technical Degree
  • At-least 5 years of hands-on working experience
  • Proficiency in standard process tools such as FMEA, SPC, DOE, and 8D.
  • Knowledge of Semiconductor Wafer Sorter and process control methodology
  • Knowledge of SMIF/FOUP Load Port Transfer systems
  • Familiarity with end effector transfer of wafers from and to cassettes
  • Familiar with different sorting concepts, such as by ID, Weight, and Thickness
  • Understanding of concepts such as Sort Ascend/Descend, Split, Merge, Randomization, and SlotMapping associated with Wafer Sorting
  • Strong inquisitive, logical, and intuitive nature, with attention to detail, creativity, and innovation. Self-driven and a strong team player
  • Excellent command of the English language, with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills
