Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Analyst / Associate for the Credit Risk Financial Institution and Workout & Restructuring teams within Global Banking & Markets. The teams’ activities include managing risk of a portfolio of clients in the EMEA Financial Institutions industry and handling distressed and defaulted credit positions to maximize recoveries.
Responsibilities
- Assess the credit and financial strength of the firm's Financial Institution and CCP counterparts through fundamental credit analysis.
- Review and approve derivative and lending transactions, ensuring proper documentation and risk mitigation to prevent defaults and minimize losses.
- Monitor credit trends of financial market participants and advise management proactively.
- Support GS Bank Europe’s counterparty credit risk governance framework.
- Oversee the performance of Watch List counterparties, including compliance with terms, covenants, and repayment schedules.
- Coordinate activities related to fire drills, workout case reviews, and escalations to senior management.
- Enhance policies and procedures related to early warnings, closeout, and default management.
- Develop expertise in bankruptcy and distressed credit management, participate in workout strategies and approval discussions.
- Interact with auditors and regulators during supervision processes concerning counterparty credit risk.
Skills and Experience Required
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in Financial Institutions, counterparty credit risk management, fixed income research, or credit analysis.
- Strong understanding of financial institutions such as banks, CCPs, broker-dealers, finance companies, or insurers.
- Knowledge of derivatives, funding, lending products, and related documentation (e.g., ISDA / CSA, MRA, credit agreements).
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and practices in counterparty credit risk and distressed credit risk management.
