Your function

EGI seeks to strengthen its team working on Owner's Engineering in the context of integrating renewable energy sources, Energy and Balancing Market Integration. We are looking for Statcom Experts & Project Managers responsible for delivering expertise in HVDC projects, focusing on converter stations.

With extensive experience in HV Reactive Power Compensation System technology and a proven track record in project management, you will oversee the preparation, planning, and implementation of EGI's Statcom projects. Responsibilities include managing quality, budget, schedule, and reporting. The role requires being an efficient organizer, assertive, a capable communicator, and a team player.

Typical activities include (but are not limited to):

  1. Defining plant-specific requirements for the Statcom system, including single line diagrams and layouts in client substations.
  2. Editing technical guidelines for Statcom components, equipment, and interfaces.
  3. Supervising and conducting quality checks during installation.
  4. Managing the entire technical implementation process from concept development to contract awards and delivery acceptance.
  5. Ensuring compliance with customer requirements and safety regulations.
  6. Comparing technical and economic alternatives for investment decisions.
  7. Collaborating with project managers on reports, budgets, schedules, and procurement.
  8. Participating in factory acceptance tests and site operational tests of primary equipment.
  9. Checking and approving equipment and plant documentation.
  10. Determining basic requirements for components, transformers, busbar control, and auxiliary power supply concepts.

Your profile

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with Statcom, Reactive Power Compensation systems (SVC, MSCDN, etc.), and HV substation equipment (up to 400kV).
  • Basic experience in electrical network calculations, insulation coordination, and Statcom design studies.
  • Knowledge of HV/MV transformer and cable design, control cables, and optical fibers.
  • Familiarity with modelling languages, data analytics, and simulation software (PowerFactory, PSSE, Matlab, etc.).
  • Proficiency in ITWO, SAP, and MS Office.
  • Fluent in English and German; knowledge of French or other languages is a strong asset.

Location

Berlin - 30% worldwide travel (willingness to travel abroad for international assignments depending on project needs).
