The Department of Information Services and Computing is the service, consultation, and coordination centre for the Information Infrastructure of the HZDR.

The Group High Performance Computing is looking for a DevOps Engineer (f/m/d) - Cloud Infrastructure and Data Services.

Your tasks

  • Analyze, optimize and adapt HZDR infrastructure and data services
  • Operate scientific cloud infrastructure on top of Kubernetes, OpenStack, and Proxmox
  • Support research groups in using infrastructure and data services

Your profile

  • Completed university studies (Bachelor/Master/Diploma) in the field of Computer Science, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, or a related field
  • Advanced training for a DevOps professional (f/m/d) is an advantage
  • Knowledge of
    • Common programming languages and container orchestration tools (e.g. Docker, Podman, Apptainer, Kubernetes)
    • OpenStack cloud platform and its components
    • Proxmox virtualization platform and its components
  • Basic knowledge in
    • Complex and distributed networks (Design, protocols, etc.)
    • Complex and distributed services and systems (Databases, storage, authentication, etc.)
  • Experience
    • In software development and programming (GitLab, CI/CD)
    • With configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible)
  • Willingness to cooperate intensively with developers and users from science and industry
  • Knowledge of the Linux operating system and Bash scripting
