Position Overview

The research group of Associate Professor Jarryd Pla invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow. The role involves conducting simulations, designing, and performing experimental work on superconducting quantum devices aimed at quantum-noise-limited measurements at temperatures above 1.5 Kelvin. This position focuses on developing new devices and techniques to enable microwave quantum technologies, such as quantum computers, sensors, and spectrometers, to operate effectively at higher temperatures, reducing the need for complex and costly refrigeration systems.

Location

This role is based in Australia, at UNSW in Kensington, Sydney.

Key Details

  • Salary: Level A - $110,059 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full-time, fixed-term contract – ASAP start until March 2028
  • Reporting to: Associate Professor Jarryd Pla

Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD in Physics, Quantum Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • Experience with quantum devices/quantum hardware, especially at microwave frequencies and millikelvin temperatures
  • Fabrication and operation of superconducting quantum devices (advantageous)
  • Microwave measurements and characterization of quantum devices
  • Experience with dilution refrigerators and temperature systems at 1.5 Kelvin
  • Strong research record, independent work capability, and collaborative skills
  • Effective communication skills and commitment to UNSW values
