About Huawei's Jena Research Center

The Jena Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research and architectural development of optics-related products.

Position: Wave-optics Design Expert (m/f/d)

We are seeking a skilled candidate in wave-optics design for holographic optics elements or/and metasurfaces in the fields of optical display, picture generation units, and Lidar in vehicles.

Your Mission

1. Perform research and design work in wave-optics design for holographic optics elements (HOE) or/and metasurfaces in the fields of optical display, picture generation units, and Lidar in vehicles.
2. Analyze application requirements, design solutions, simulate systems, and develop proof of concept and prototypes.
3. Understand the business background, stay updated on advanced technologies, and explore new technological directions.
4. Collaborate extensively with team members and other departments, leveraging industry resources to achieve business objectives.

Your Areas of Expertise

1. Proven experience in designing and developing HOE or/and metasurfaces devices for optical beam shaping, polarization conversion, and imaging.
2. Strong theoretical knowledge in wave optics; basic knowledge in geometric optics; Ph.D. in optics-related fields preferred.
3. Proficiency with optical design and simulation software such as VirtualLab, FDTD, Comsol, Zemax, LightTools, CodeV; programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB are a plus.
4. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and systematic work skills.
5. Enthusiastic team player with fluent English communication skills.
