Become part of SMS group GmbH in Mönchengladbach or Hilchenbach, where we are hiring for the position:

R&D Engineer for Process Technology Hot Rolling (f/m/d)

You will be responsible for developing plant and application technology for hot rolling mills (steel and non-ferrous metals).

Your Tasks Include

1. Designing machines, plants, and processes
2. Evaluating plants and processes through theoretical investigations, field trials, data collection, and analysis
3. Managing development projects, including budgeting and scheduling
4. Conducting studies in rolling mill and forming technology
5. Applying and developing simulation programs and process models as needed
6. Assessing process functionality and cost efficiency
7. Supporting sales and execution projects, including technological commissioning
8. Preparing and conducting internal and external training sessions

Qualifications

Completed studies (Master's or equivalent, PhD welcomed) in mechanical engineering or a related field. Additionally:

1. Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals (mathematics, physics, mechanics, design, forming technology, materials science, etc.)
2. Preferably, additional knowledge in electrical engineering and automation
3. Proficiency in programming, especially in high-level languages like C++
4. Fluent in English, both spoken and written
5. Demonstrated commitment, entrepreneurial mindset, and proactive approach
6. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
7. Ability to work effectively in international and cross-company teams
8. Willingness to travel worldwide
