Winthrop is a dedicated Data Centre Construction company providing turnkey solutions to our clients, headquartered in Dublin and delivering throughout Europe. As an engineering-focused organisation, Winthrop has grown to become one of the leading and most trusted companies in our sector. We are currently constructing multiple Turnkey Data Centre Projects in 9 different European Countries, equating to over 320MW of IT load in flight.

We are pleased to announce that we are currently seeking an experienced Authorised Person to join our team. This position will be based on site in Frankfurt, Germany.

The Authorised Person will oversee a team of Electrical Engineers and Supervisors as they carry out Electrical Works and ensure the project programme is maintained. The Lead Appointed Person must be effective at motivating their team, as well as providing frank but constructive assessments of the work done.

Below is a list of typical duties, but it is not exclusive of all duties required during the project.

Requirements

  1. Engages early in the project with the Site Management team, following the agreed Electrical Safe Systems of Work Procedure under the instruction of the Lead Appointed Person.
  2. Ensures all workplace personnel are aware of and comply with the Electrical Safe Systems of Work.
  3. Issues and controls permits for all energised working activities within scope of work.
  4. Reviews and understands project specifications and drawings fully to extract project-specific requirements.
  5. Follows strict operational procedures and adheres to high voltage safety rules.
  6. Interprets basic electrical protection under fault conditions.
  7. Completes safety documents and lockout/tagout procedures and philosophies.
  8. Reviews switchgear distribution topology and controls prior to start-up.
  9. Supports and liaises with specialist testing and commissioning contractors to carry out early reviews and agree on commissioning sequences and test scripts.
  10. Liaises with control system providers (SCADA, BMS, EMS, etc.) in the development of system handover under permit control schedules and protocols.
  11. Holds relevant 3rd level certificates in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, or an electrical trade with relevant training and experience.
  12. Has a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within an electrical contracting environment, with experience in commercial, industrial, pharma, and data centre projects.
  13. Experience working on MV/HV systems and 'Authorised Person or Appointed Person' experience.
  14. Electrical testing and verification experience, with a minimum of 3 years.
  15. Construction experience and safety awareness.
  16. Solves problems analytically and acts decisively.
