Job Description

Senior Data Engineer (f/d/m)

Because the successful energy transition cannot wait any longer: We are dedicated to the goal of a sustainable, climate-neutral energy supply and the operation of intelligent energy and telecommunications networks to enable digital participation for all. Become part of our mission and grow with us.

Your new job:

  • In your role as a Senior Data Engineer (f/d/m) in the AWS Cloud environment, you will make an important contribution to the energy transition and play a decisive role in shaping it.
  • You plan and develop sustainable Python software with high standards of security, maintainability, and performance, taking our energy trading platform to the next level.
  • As an experienced developer (f/d/m), you will use your expertise in Python, cloud technologies (including AWS), Kubernetes, databases, message brokers, and streaming software on a daily basis. Clean code, unit testing, and paradigms of good software design are always part of your workflow.
  • Taking responsibility for developed software and the processes behind it is a given – even under operational pressure and financial risks.
  • You will be part of a motivated, 25-person team focused on software development and operations for energy trading, working in an agile environment with close collaboration with energy traders and analysts.

Your profile:

  • You have successfully completed a degree in computer science, mathematics, or physics (Master's level) and/or have a comparable qualification.
  • You bring extensive expertise in Python and, if applicable, other programming in a commercial environment.
  • You have advanced knowledge of database technologies (both relational and non-relational) and event-based architectures using message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ or Kafka).
  • You are experienced in orchestrating cloud components (e.g., AWS, Azure) and have worked with cloud architectures, data stream processing, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • You have some experience setting up and configuring monitoring tools for cloud infrastructures (e.g., AWS Cloud Watch, Grafana, Kibana).
  • You are comfortable with deployments outside regular hours and participating in on-call duties (with additional compensation).
  • Ideally, you have prior exposure to energy trading or the financial market.
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English.
  • You are a creative, analytical thinker who enjoys exploring new technologies. You also have a strong interest in changes in the energy industry, including cloud computing, IT security, and the energy transition.

What we offer:

  • An exciting role with responsibility and opportunities for personal development.
  • A team that embraces change, open exchange, and collaboration.
  • An employment relationship with an innovative company offering an attractive salary.
  • A reliable corporate culture and a collegial working environment.
  • Flexible working time models, such as flexitime and working time account models.
  • Employer-financed company pension scheme.
  • A wide range of health measures and company sports groups.
  • Training and development tailored to your needs.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a climate-neutral future by 2035.
