About the job

Main responsibilities

  1. Support the Engineering studies to define the scope, pass the scope through funding processes, and lead the procurement and engineering process once the funding has been received.
  2. Identify appropriate staff for the Engineering project execution.
  3. Define, together with Purchasing, the best contract model for all key steps from Detail Engineering, Construction & C&Q activities.
  4. Collaborate strongly with IFF Program teams to manage basic engineering studies with optimized solutions, leveraging Frankfurt process replication while integrating China local rules & codes.
  5. Collaborate with the Production unit, maintenance, and site engineering to map project co-activity.
  6. Build an aligned strategy with Program Design team, purchasing, & Engineering to identify best contractors to secure construction down to mechanical completion.

Leadership & Project Management

  1. Lead selected engineering contractors to deliver project objectives.
  2. Study & build the project in accordance with EHS, Quality, Business & User requirements with a focus on design-to-cost solutions.
  3. Implement Project Controls & Planning with appropriate SOPs.
  4. Implement standard reporting (Monthly Project Report) to manage and communicate on Safety, Cost, Planning & Performance.
  5. Ensure compliance with Sanofi EHS, Quality standards, and China regulations before execution.
  6. Strengthen leadership and organizational capabilities within the team, building a high-performance management team.
  7. Anticipate, identify, and communicate project risks on & across the site.
  8. Track action plans to manage risk throughout the project and assist site teams during PQ & validation activities before full handover.
  9. About you

    Experience/Education:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical or Process Engineering with at least 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical industries leading Tier 1 projects.
  • Experience within Pharmaceutical facility start-up or manufacturing with proven leadership.

Soft and technical skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Biologics process including aseptic technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of GMPs & EHS requirements.
  • Ability to manage projects in a complex environment achieving significant results.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships across the organization.
  • Know-how in integrated C&Q activities for Pharma processes.
  • Fluency in German and English; other languages appreciated.
