Trier University’s Faculty of Spatial and Environmental Sciences seeks to fill the following post in Geography on a permanent civil service basis as soon as possible:
W2-Professorship for Spatial Planning and Governance (LBesG) (m/w/d)
The post is a permanent civil service position which involves subject specific research and teaching duties as identified above.
We are looking for a scholar with proven expertise in the field of sustainable spatial planning and governance who will advance human geography discourses both theoretically as well as empirically and applied in at least one of the following fields: (i) mobility/transport, (ii) energy (geographies), (iii) societal relations with nature or resources. Knowledge of the German planning system is required. Candidates should demonstrate their research expertise through a national and international publication and research track record including successful acquisition of external funding. The research should provide synergies to existing research in geography and strengthen the faculty’s profile at the interface of society and natural environment and provide impetus for a future-proof development of critical human geography at Trier. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory and advanced human geography modules in German and English for Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Geography.
The official duties are detailed in Section 48, and the conditions for employment in Section 49, of the Higher Education Act. In particular, pedagogical aptitude and outstanding academic achievements must be demonstrated. The ability to offer courses in German is expected. Reference is made to Section 50, Paragraph 5, Sentences 5 and 6 of the Higher Education Act.
