Sales Engineer

Overview:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Sales Engineer (or Technical Solutions Consultant) who combines a deep technical foundation with exceptional communication and consulting abilities.
  • In this pivotal role, you will be the primary technical advisor for prospective clients, guiding them from initial engagement through evaluation and towards a successful partnership.
  • You will architect compelling visions for how our platform integrates into and enhances customer IT landscapes, ensuring they realize significant value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Sales Technical Consulting:
    • Articulate the technical capabilities, architecture, and value proposition of our platform to diverse audiences, from engineers to C-level executives.
    • Deliver compelling and customized product demonstrations tailored to specific customer needs and use cases.
    • Lead technical discovery sessions to deeply understand a prospect's existing IT infrastructure, development workflows, technical challenges, and business objectives.
    • Translate customer requirements into effective technical solutions leveraging our platform, designing optimal integration strategies within their existing landscape (e.g., CI/CD, monitoring, security).
    • Address complex technical questions and overcome objections during sales calls and workshops, acting as the trusted technical expert.
    • Collaborate closely with the sales team to develop technical content for proposals and statements of work.
  • Solution Validation & Proof-of-Concept (PoC) / Proof-of-Value (PoV) Management:
    • Scope and define success criteria for PoCs and PoVs in collaboration with the customer and sales team.
    • Actively support customers during their evaluation phase, providing technical guidance, best practices, and troubleshooting assistance related to our platform usage and integration points.
    • Develop and build custom demonstrations, showcases, or small applications on top of our platform to illustrate specific capabilities or integration patterns relevant to the customer's needs.
    • Assist customers in understanding and utilizing our APIs or integration points, potentially providing sample scripts or configurations as examples.
  • Technical Expertise & Market Awareness:
    • Serve as a key technical liaison between prospective customers and our product/engineering teams, relaying market feedback and requirements.
    • Maintain a strong understanding of cloud technologies, DevOps principles, containerization, orchestration, CI/CD systems, and the competitive landscape to effectively position our platform.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluent in German and proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Proven experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Technical Consulting, or potentially Technical Customer Success/Support with significant pre-sales involvement.
  • Confidence and credibility presenting technical solutions and principles to key decision-makers (e.g., CTOs, VPs of Engineering, Lead DevOps Engineers, Architects).
  • Deep understanding of DevOps principles and modern software development lifecycles.
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (public/private/hybrid), containers (e.g., Docker), orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and networking concepts relevant to enterprise IT.
  • Proficiency in understanding system architecture and identifying integration points.
  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting (e.g., Bash) sufficient for demonstrating concepts and understanding customer environments.
  • Experience with APIs and potentially light scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for building demos or integration examples is a plus.
