The job

The Integrated Sustainability Assessment of Societal Systems (ISAS) group at the Department of Bioenergy at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig offers a position for a dedicated scientist to join the team as soon as possibleto work on a research project. The project will develop and apply innovative sustainability assessment methods to explore the socio-ecological transformation of regions undergoing structural change.

  • Applying methods for regional and comprehensive sustainability, assessment of production systems under consideration of ecological, social, and economic indicators
  • Implementing research data management and APIs for LCA software and geospatial web applications
  • Engaging stakeholders in assessment models
  • Presentation of results in presentations, reports and scientific articles

Your profile

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Economics, or Engineering
  • Extensive experience with Python, Java, and SQL
  • Basic knowledge of LCA and Input-Output analysis
  • Interdisciplinary knowledge and interest at the intersection of computer science, environmental, and social sciences
  • Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills
