Amazon is seeking Site Process Engineers to work in the EU Process Engineering (EU PE) team. The Site Process Engineer is an onsite position. The EU PE team comprises operational leaders driving process stabilization, standardization, and continuous improvement for the EU Customer Fulfilment Network. This team is essential for establishing best-in-class process performance across various direct and indirect processes, accelerating the implementation of technological advancements, and strengthening the technical acumen and process knowledge of operational leaders across the FC network.
EU PE ensures operations teams are equipped with the functional expertise to deliver expected gains from technology advances and network-wide process improvements. The team drives process control and performance shifts to minimize variation between shifts and regions, thereby delivering strong performance. They work closely with Process System Engineering (PSE), ACES PM, Central Ops, launch teams, operations engineering, and RME teams to improve input metrics for each process path by prioritizing and channeling resources. The Site Process Engineer collaborates with the FC Senior Leadership Team and maintains high collaboration with EU PE functions.
This role involves deploying initiatives, building networks and relationships within the FC, and driving compliance within set timelines. The Site Process Engineer initiates and implements EU-wide improvement activities, demonstrating ownership, understanding initiatives in detail, and influencing outcomes to achieve tangible productivity and efficiency gains in the FC.
Key job responsibilities
- Work on Back to Basics (B2B) initiatives: Identify top opportunities in the FC compared to other EU FCs, focusing on the bottom 50% processes. Implement improvement plans in collaboration with local Operations Management, oversee the FC improvement program, analyze process performance, review open Action Plans weekly, and collaborate with central PE functions and other Site PEs for benchmarking.
- Work on Continuous Improvement with the FC: Drive network best practice implementation, leverage local initiatives, and ensure these are shared and stored in the EU Best Practice repository. Strengthen the framework for capturing and scaling FC innovations and ensure major projects are captured in the Operating Plan Q1 Project Intake.
- Own the deployment of EU network initiatives: Ensure timely execution, compliance, and support for test and pilot phases to prevent delays and ensure deployment across all EU FCs.
- Partnership with the FC Ops: Participate in daily Gemba walks, organize weekly leadership meetings, and support the Site Leader and senior management in fostering strong relationships and driving initiatives. Support ad hoc process-related tasks as needed.
- Support or lead EU Projects: Expand initial project scopes and coordinate across multiple FCs to improve project management skills and stakeholder engagement.
- Operational deployment: During Q4, support or lead site management operations as needed.
- Travel: Ability to travel domestically and regionally, estimated at 0-10%, subject to change based on business needs.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in English and German at C1 level (Common European Framework of Reference)
- Experience in Operations as Area Manager or similar role
- High proficiency in at least one Fulfillment process path (e.g., Quriosity silver/gold certification)
Preferred qualifications
- Strong experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies
- Knowledge of change management and continuous improvement methodologies
