Overview

The Senior Equipment Engineer in the Equipment Engineering team will operate, sustain, and improve automated manufacturing equipment at Tesla's Giga Factory Berlin. The ideal candidate will have a high aptitude for learning new skills and will be capable of supporting all aspects of automated equipment to improve production efficiency and quality worldwide.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with design, production, and engineering teams to ensure safe, efficient production lines producing high-quality parts.
  2. Monitor compliance with safety standards and regulations related to production equipment.
  3. Lead equipment improvement projects to enhance machine availability and reduce costs.
  4. Serve as the first point of contact for unplanned equipment breakdowns, supporting troubleshooting and repairs.
  5. Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  6. Maintain and improve the CMMS system.
  7. Create training materials, maintenance routines, and documentation for equipment lifecycle management.
  8. Challenge product and packaging specifications for continuous improvement.
  9. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications and operating instructions.
  10. Lead multidisciplinary projects with a focus on serviceability and reliability.
  11. Train technical staff on equipment and technologies.
  12. Identify critical spare parts to prevent extended downtime.
  13. Design equipment using 3D CAD tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 6 years of experience in maintenance and repair of production equipment.
  • Strong experience with electrical testing equipment and automated test processes for power electronics.
  • Excellent communication skills; proficiency in English is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (DMAIC, 8D, Ishikawa, 5W).
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Knowledge of high voltage circuits and electrical safety standards.
  • Experience with Beckhoff and Siemens PLCs is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Python and SQL is a plus.
  • Understanding of inverter operation and testing procedures is beneficial.
  • Experience creating and maintaining operational and training documentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexible working hours, including days, afternoons, and weekends.
