In your role, you will contribute to our business growth by developing flavors for our customers in Germany. You will work on reactive customer briefs and proactively suggest ideas to help our customers bring consumer-preferred and differentiating products to market. You will be part of the Commercial team based in Dortmund, Germany, reporting to the Technical Manager Germany.

In this exciting role, you will:

  1. Formulate new flavor creations or modify existing flavors to meet customer requirements, internal testing needs, or new technology development at an expert level for selected flavor types.
  2. Execute daily brief-related tasks, manage assigned projects, and provide flavors that meet all defined customer needs, manufacturing practices, sample scale-up, regulatory compliance, etc., including leading customer visits for flavor creation and product presentations.
  3. Establish and maintain relationships with a broad range of complex customers, gaining their trust and respect.
  4. Serve as a technical expert and advisor to marketing, sales, and customers on ingredient and flavor performance, resolving flavor production issues and customer complaints, and owning created flavors.
  5. Coordinate the evaluation of internally or externally developed materials and assess their potential for flavor creation.
  6. Prepare flavor samples as needed for customer briefs, applications, technology performance assessments, QC standards, and physical testing.
  7. Act as a local champion for new technologies.
  8. Coach, mentor, and manage flavor assistants and flavorists.
  9. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized lab environment following EH&S policies and participate in designing necessary rules.

About You:

  1. 7 years of experience as a Flavourist after completing the Givaudan Flavourist Training program or an accepted industry equivalent.
  2. Experience in flavor creation within the beverage segment.
  3. Demonstrated expert tasting skills and the ability to adjust flavor formulations accordingly.
  4. Expert knowledge of raw materials and flavor ingredients, with the ability to formulate various flavor types to meet performance and problem-solving needs.
  5. Ability to discuss flavor creation needs across multiple types and provide guidance for flavor performance issues.
  6. Proficiency in presenting technical flavor creation topics, integrating knowledge from applications, sensory analysis, consumer insights, and science.
  7. Expertise in formulating delivery systems for various applications.
  8. Proficient in analytical methodologies such as GCMS and HPLC.
  9. Deep understanding of technologies affecting flavor stability and performance.
  10. Ability to manage flavor assistants.
  11. Fluent in English, spoken and written.
