Offer Description

The Institute of Animal Nutrition is part of the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the Freie Universität Berlin. It focuses on the research and optimization of feeding concepts for farm and companion animals. The central topics include:

  • Effects of feed composition on animal health and well-being
  • Interaction of feed components with gut microbiota and their impact on immune function and intestinal integrity
  • Sustainable feeding strategies and alternative nutrient sources considering both animal health and ecological/economic aspects

The position supports further academic qualification (e.g., recognition as a veterinary nutrition specialist or residency at the European College of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition).

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:

  • Research experience in microbiome- or immunology-related animal nutrition
  • Strong skills in experimental methods, such as molecular biology or immunological analysis (qPCR, NGS, ELISA, etc.)
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and ideally bioinformatics
  • Proven publication record in relevant journals
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration and third-party funding experience
  • Excellent German and English language skills (written and spoken)
  • Teamwork, self-initiative, structured and goal-oriented work ethic
Specific Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Completed academic degree in veterinary medicine and a doctorate (Dr. med. vet. or PhD)
