About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Senior Solution Architect to play a key role in shaping and delivering innovative digital solutions. You can be based out of either one of our buzzing Munich, Dusseldorf or Cologne offices. In this role, you will support technical assessments, pitches, and pre-sales engagements, leveraging your broad knowledge of enterprise commerce solutions and their position in the market to help define the right architectures for our clients. You will work closely with development teams to guide technical design, architectural decisions, and proof-of-concepts, ensuring solutions align with best practices and business objectives. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving technical excellence, balancing strategic vision with hands-on problem-solving, and collaborating across teams to deliver scalable and high-performing digital platforms. Key Responsibilities

1. Engage with key decision-makers in client organisations to understand their business objectives and technical requirements.
2. Communicate and articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment.
3. Develop and present architectural diagrams to visualise solution landscapes, trade-offs, and key decision points.
4. Assess business requirements and translate them into scalable, maintainable and cost-effective technical solutions.
5. Guide development teams in technical design, best practices and proof-of-concepts to validate new technologies and approaches.
6. Ensure architectural consistency and governance across projects, maintaining alignment with industry standards and best practices.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, and business leaders, to ensure successful project execution.
8. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and assess their relevance to enhance client solutions and internal capabilities.

To be successful in this role, you must have proven experience as a Solution Architect with a track record of delivering successful projects. You bring solid expertise in a leading commerce platform, specifically SAP Commerce or Commercetools. Additionally, a broad understanding of enterprise commerce solutions—their capabilities, strengths, and positioning in the market—is essential to help clients make informed architectural decisions.

For SAP Commerce, this includes:

1. Knowledge equivalent to a certified SAP Commerce Developer, with hands-on experience in designing and implementing scalable solutions.
2. Experience working with SAP Commerce in the cloud, understanding its deployment models and operational challenges.
3. The ability to identify the best solutions or options for complex technical problems, ensuring performance, maintainability, and business value.
4. Broad experience with integrations, including third-party systems, payment providers, PIMs, ERPs, and search solutions.
5. Familiarity with a variety of frontend technologies, ensuring seamless end-to-end commerce experiences.
6. Awareness of migration and upgrade challenges, and the ability to plan and execute these effectively.
7. A deep understanding of commerce landscapes, including key components such as OMS, personalization engines, and CDPs.
8. An informed perspective on SAP Commerce within a composable architecture, understanding its role and limitations in modern, API-first commerce ecosystems.

For Commercetools, this includes:

1. Hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions using Commercetools' headless and API-first architecture.
2. Strong understanding of MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) principles, and how to apply them in commerce solutions.
3. Experience integrating Commercetools with third-party services, such as CMS, PIM, search, and payment providers.
4. Familiarity with frontend frameworks commonly used with Commercetools, such as Next.js or Vue Storefront, to deliver composable commerce experiences.
5. Ability to design and manage data models within Commercetools, including product catalogs, pricing structures, and promotions.
6. Understanding of event-driven architecture and microservices, leveraging tools like Kafka, or AWS/Azure/GCP alternatives.
7. Experience with GraphQL and REST APIs, optimizing API interactions for performance and scalability.
8. Insight into best practices for migrating to Commercetools, including re-platforming strategies and co-existence with legacy systems.
