Job Description: Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT)

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT), you will be responsible for staging, setting up, and deploying hardware. You will troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues, perform hardware decommissions for simple changes and refreshes following Standard Operating Procedures, and support data center operations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, or basic knowledge of computer hardware and IT components.

Background Check Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supporting IT equipment or related technology experience.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, quickly identifying issues and replacing faulty components with minimal disruption.
  • Conduct post-deployment quality checks, ensuring proper setup according to safety and deployment standards.
  • Decommission hardware for simple upgrades and refreshes following standard procedures.
  • Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate management and engineering teams.
  • Assist and guide other technicians in completing complex tasks.
  • Uphold Microsoft’s culture and values.
