Within the central division Claims, comprising all non-life claims operations globally, our department drives digitalization as a crucial enabler of our Claims Ambition2025+ strategy. The team is responsible for defining and executing our Claims systems, data, reporting, and analytics/AI strategy.
In this role, we aim to provide data-driven claims insights to all Underwriting and Client Management stakeholders for our joint business success in the non-life Reinsurance segment, in close collaboration with our central Analytics, Underwriting, and Claims units.
The advertised position within the analytics sub-team focuses on realizing AI use cases, with a strong emphasis on unstructured data. This includes retraining and enhancing existing machine learning models, developing new AI solutions and PoCs with internal and external data scientists, and integrating GenAI solutions and prompt engineering into operational processes.
Your Job
- Contribute to Munich Re-wide data strategy initiatives by developing a pipeline of AI and GenAI-supported use cases.
- Analyze, structure, and extract information from unstructured documents using predictive and generative methods.
- Perform data analysis to identify patterns, visualize data, and detect anomalies.
- Contribute to the processing pipeline for unstructured documents and data.
- Collaborate closely with operational colleagues to discuss insights and generate improvement ideas.
- Take ownership of and drive analytic topics within agile project teams to support the business and generate insights.
Your Profile
- University degree in data science, computer science, computational linguistics, statistics, or a related field.
- Experience with supervised and unsupervised text mining and NLP methods, and building preprocessing pipelines for unstructured data.
- Practical experience in handling heterogeneous and complex data, with a motivation to understand the business and generate impact.
- Broad knowledge of analytical and statistical methods, combined with practical experience and a desire for continuous improvement.
- Experience with Azure Cloud components, especially Databricks (including Delta tables and Unity Catalog), Azure Storage, Azure Search.
- Proficiency in Python, Spark, and SQL.
- Knowledge of explainable AI, responsible AI, and AI ethics, especially regarding the EU AI Act, is a plus.
- Team player, accustomed to working in agile setups and collaborating with GIT or similar tools.
- Effective communication skills across departments and levels of seniority.
- High motivation, responsibility, and ability to work independently.
- Fluent in German and English, with the ability to explain complex issues to diverse audiences.
- Experience in (re)insurance, particularly in Claims or Underwriting, is advantageous.
- Experience as a Product Owner or Project Manager is a plus.
