Job Details

  • Position: Professorship (W2) in Computer Science, specialization in Robotics
  • Location: Sankt Augustin campus
  • Start: As soon as possible
  • Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities

  1. Provide courses in Master's and Bachelor's programmes in English and German
  2. Carry out research, manage third-party-funded projects, and participate in science transfer
  3. Support collaboration with academic, business, and societal institutions
  4. Engage in university's academic autonomy and contribute to the University Development Plan, especially sustainability targets
  5. Participate in developing study programmes, especially in Autonomous Systems
  6. Supervise PhD students, e.g., via the NRW Promotionskolleg
  7. Contribute to the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems (A2S) and the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology (b-it)
  8. Initiate, acquire, and manage R&D activities, especially in AI, autonomous systems, and robotics
  9. Meet employment requirements per Section 36 of NRW Hochschulgesetz
  10. Provide courses in English and German; German learners expected to reach B2 level within two years
  11. Help establish and develop study programmes and introduce digital teaching formats
  12. Promote gender diversity, sustainability, and quality in teaching, research, and transfer
  13. Have extensive knowledge in autonomous systems fields like Robot Learning, Manipulation, Motion Planning, etc.
  14. Possess relevant experience in robotics application domains such as Healthcare, Smart Cities, Industry 5.0, etc.
  15. Experience in international research collaborations

Additional Qualifications

Experience in university teaching, developing new teaching concepts, supervising students, acquiring research funding, and a strong network in the research community are advantageous. Supervising PhD theses is also beneficial.
