Senior Sales Development Manager - Greenfield Power Solutions & Market Development (Germany) (m/f/d)
We are seeking a highly driven and strategic Senior Sales Development Manager to spearhead business development and market expansion for a greenfield power solution, initially in Germany. This role will be responsible for defining and executing go-to-market strategies, developing customer relationships, and driving product evolution through market segmentation and test cases.The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the power and energy sector, a proven track record in business development, and the ability to translate market insights into commercial success. A key part of this role is also upskilling an existing gas commodity sales team to enable them to successfully sell power solutions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Business Development & Market Expansion
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, building a strong and scalable customer base for the power solution.
- Define and implement a structured market segmentation strategy, ensuring that the product is tailored to key customer needs.
- Develop and execute test cases with customers to validate business models, pricing strategies, and service offerings.
- Establish strong relationships with key industry players, regulators, and potential partners to drive market access and competitive positioning.
- Define the commercial roadmap, ensuring alignment between customer needs and product capabilities.
- Use market intelligence and data-driven insights to refine product offerings and pricing strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop business cases that support scaling the solution while ensuring profitability.
- Balance short-term revenue generation with long-term sustainable business growth.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Own the end-to-end customer acquisition process, from lead generation to contract negotiation and onboarding.
- Develop tailored customer engagement strategies to enhance retention and satisfaction.
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact for clients, ensuring that their needs are met through continuous improvement of the offering.
- Train and upskill the existing gas commodity sales team to successfully transition into selling power solutions.
- Develop training materials, sales scripts, and value propositions to improve the team's commercial effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptability to market changes.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activities to refine commercial strategies.
- Leverage big data and analytics to optimize market positioning and decision-making.
- Ensure that all commercial activities align with sustainability goals and regulatory requirements.
Solution Development
- Lead and manage a high-performing, delivery-first focused team to ensure the successful execution of the end-to-end greenfield power solution
- Oversee the technical aspects of the power solution, ensuring that all capabilities (metering, pricing, billing, forecasting, hedging, sourcing, balancing) are developed and optimized to meet market demands and business requirements.
- Ensure the integration of big data analytics, AI, and machine learning to optimize decision-making, improve energy management, and drive efficiencies across the power system.
Sustainability Focus:
Ensure the greenfield power solution aligns with sustainability and green energy goals.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Bachelor or Master degree in business studies, economics or similar
- Fluency in both English and German is essential
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to define and execute business strategies
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying and seizing market opportunities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, leveraging data to optimize commercial performance
- various years of experience in business development, sales, or commercial leadership, ideally in the power or energy sector
- Proven track record in driving market entry strategies, customer acquisition, and revenue growth
- Deep knowledge of the German energy market, including regulations, pricing structures, and competitive landscape
- Experience in designing and executing customer test cases to validate market fit and optimize product offerings
- Previous experience in training and upskilling sales teams to drive new product adoption
- Experience in integrating data-driven insights into commercial decision-making
