The Werner & Mertz Service & Logistik GmbH in Mainz employs around 150 staff and handles raw material supply, storage, and distribution of finished products. We also advise on logistics, develop, and implement national and international logistics concepts.

Position

We are looking for a Sachbearbeiter (m/w/d) im Transportmanagement at our Mainz location.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Act as the contact person for the Werner & Mertz Group and freight forwarders on customs, freight prices, and freight agreements.
  2. Organize special trips/express deliveries.
  3. Coordinate sea and air freight shipments.
  4. Obtain national and international freight offers.
  5. Implement export control procedures.
  6. Handle order splitting, release, and dispatch approvals.
  7. Simulate, select, and approve orders in EWM.
  8. Register freight containers nationally and internationally.
  9. Create DGR and IMO declarations.
  10. Support and represent customer service.

Shipping Operations

  1. Handle shipping activities for national/export.
  2. Pre-process vehicle inspections.
  3. Complete loading in EWM.
  4. Coordinate with sales, production, and freight forwarders.
  5. Manage loading capacity via Cargoclix.
  6. Ensure timely and proper freight space availability.
  7. Process orders and cancellations in EWM.
  8. Maintain the freight forwarder logbook.
  9. Coordinate loading docks and ramp assignments.
  10. Handle shipping documentation and system entries.

Candidate Profile

  • Completed commercial training, preferably as a freight forwarding clerk or warehouse logistics specialist, or comparable experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods handling.
  • Basic knowledge of customs procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in German, with basic English skills for correspondence and calls.
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse management systems, SAP/R3, SD, and preferably EWM; experience with BW and Analyzer is a plus.
  • Strong team spirit, decision-making ability, and willingness to work on Saturdays.
  • Willingness to participate in training and seminars.
