Description
Systematically analyze technical manufacturing and field-related issues by using diagnostics, protocols, theory of operations, and other information, then present concepts and solutions to the field support team or management for standardization.
Implement optical alignment and metrology processes or test/tooling fixtures to improve manufacturing cycle time or cost.
Improve opto-mechanical designs for manufacturability and specify optical components and sub-systems such as lasers, LEDs, optical filters, cameras, sensors, and lens assemblies, especially for illumination, imaging, and microscope systems.
Follow a design process by performing reviews, technical alignment with vendors, first-article inspection, testing, prototype integration, and design release.
Generate and maintain process and equipment work instructions, drawings, and other production documents to conform to specifications.
Collaborate with Quality and Purchasing departments to resolve component/part quality problems, drive supplier quality improvements, and reduce costs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics or other optics-related subjects, with 1-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
Understanding of optical subsystems and their interfaces with mechanical and electrical subsystems.
Basic experience with optical designs and simulations in Zemax.
Programming skills in MATLAB or Python for developing user interfaces.
Strong ability to present and communicate technical data effectively.
Ability to perform well in demanding environments with changing workloads and deadlines.
Experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural global teams.
Experience with spectroscopy, coatings, and optomechanics is a plus.
