Rocket Factory Augsburg AG - Test and Launch Operations Engineer (m/f/d)

Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) is dedicated to creating low-cost, flexible, and reliable access to space. We specialize in small launcher solutions for deploying satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and beyond. Join us in revolutionizing space services and enhancing life on Earth. We are seeking a motivated Test and Launch Operations Engineer (m/f/d) for a temporary 12-month position, based in Sweden or the UK.

Your Responsibilities

  • Serve as on-console test and flight controller during launch and test events.
  • Test integrated rocket hardware for flight acceptability.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of test systems and articles for the RFA ONE Launcher.
  • Integrate, troubleshoot, and commission mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Review data to evaluate performance of launch/test systems (software, fluid, structural, thermal, electrical).
  • Innovate and optimize test and launch processes to increase capability and cadence.
  • Manage project execution within tight timelines.
  • Align resources and assign accountability for key objectives.
  • Use testing, analysis, modeling, and simulation tools to assess system performance.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.

Your Qualifications

  • Higher education in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly at RFAs test and launch sites.
  • Excellent understanding of staged-combustion liquid rocket engines and launch vehicles.
  • Strong knowledge of physics, fluid dynamics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with data review tools and numerical methods (e.g., Git, NI LabVIEW, MS Office).
  • Experience with instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, piezoelectric sensors, strain gauges, load cells, flowmeters.
  • Hands-on test operations experience, preferably in propulsion projects.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written.
  • Self-motivated, structured, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
