Software Engineer (TypeScript / Nuxt / AWS) (m/f/d)
Hamburg
Founded in Hamburg, Germany in 2016, heiland.com was never meant to be just another tech start-up. We set out to build something deeper—a place where meaningful work, strong relationships, and thoughtful craftsmanship come together. For us, software is more than just code –- it’s a creative expression with purpose.
Our mission is clear: to significantly improve global animal health by empowering veterinarians through cutting-edge technology. Today, as part of the Swedish Vimian Group, we’re turning this vision into reality. We build software with a soul — products that make a real impact in veterinary medicine and beyond. Come on board!
What you will do:
You’ll be part of a small, experienced team building a webshop that helps veterinarians do their work better—software that has a real-world, real-animal impact. In this role, you will:
- Build new features from scratch and improve existing ones using a modern web stack
- Work with a monorepo setup, analytics, and multi-region deployment infrastructure
- Contribute to architectural decisions, coding standards, and best practices
- Take initiative on cross-team efforts that improve how we work and what we build
Work primarily with Nuxt 3, TypeScript, AWS, Turborepo, and Bitbucket CI/CD; familiarity with Java on the backend is a plus, but not required

What you should offer:
We’re looking for someone who cares about thoughtful engineering—someone who takes pride in clean, reliable code and believes in building software that serves a real purpose. You might be a good fit if:
- You’ve spent at least 5+ years building software, and you still enjoy the craft of coding
- You know how to navigate and contribute to an existing system with care and understanding
- You’re comfortable sharing your perspective—whether it’s an idea for a new feature or a blocker you’ve run into—and you value open, honest communication
- You take satisfaction in shipping resilient, cloud-based applications that stay up and scale well
- You know your way around complex bugs and use tools like breakpoints, profilers, and performance monitors to find what really matters
- You’re not just writing code—you’re building something meaningful, and you take responsibility for doing it well
- You bring self-initiative, solution-oriented thinking, and a hands-on mentality, tackling tasks and processes with creativity and drive
