As part of the SMS group, a leading technology supplier for the metals industry with 15,000 employees worldwide, we serve the steel industry and beyond.

We are actively working on CO2 reduction in ironmaking, including projects like the EASyMelt concept, which integrates plasma torches.

We are seeking a PhD – Plasma Torch Simulation Engineer (m/f/d).

Your main responsibilities include designing and simulating plasma torches for industrial applications, collaborating with teams to develop innovative solutions, and validating models through experiments.

Qualifications include a PhD or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related fields, with skills in numerical methods, plasma physics, and software such as OpenFOAM or Code_saturne. Programming skills in C++ or Python, strong analytical abilities, and proficiency in English are required. French or German skills are advantageous.
