Role Responsibilities

  1. You will work closely with our Market Analysts, Traders, and Originators in a fast-paced trading environment.
  2. Monitor and interpret weather data from various sources to provide accurate and timely forecasts.
  3. Build databases with meteorological parameters and historical forecasts for model back testing and analysis.
  4. Stay updated on the latest developments in weather forecasting research, technology, and vendor products.
  5. Be a dedicated team player with good communication skills. Meteorologists and markets start early in the morning.
  6. Be based at our headquarters in Essen, Germany, with options for partial remote work. Occasional travel to other European trading floors may be required.
  7. Have experience with numerical weather prediction models and synoptic forecasting techniques.
  8. Understand weather and climate models and data formats, ideally with experience in model development or research teams.
  9. Experience in synoptic weather forecasting in sectors like renewables, aviation, or civil services is preferred.
  10. Have a good understanding of climate indices, teleconnections, and seasonal projections.
  11. Be familiar with time series analysis and multivariate statistics.
  12. Proficiency in Python is essential; experience with MATLAB and MS Office is also required.
  13. Experience in energy markets, commodity trading, or agriculture is a plus but not mandatory.
  14. Hold a degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric, or Climate Sciences.
  15. Be willing to work occasionally on bank holidays or weekends.
