Amazon is seeking an experienced Safety Engineer to join the Safety Engineering team supporting International Operations.
Key job responsibilities
The Safety Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring high safety standards are integrated into systems and processes across Fulfillment Centers, Sort Centers, and Delivery Stations outside North America. The role involves validating vendor-proposed technical safety solutions and collaborating with internal engineering and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will have detailed knowledge of EU machinery safety regulations, engineering and procedural controls to mitigate risks, and familiarity with robotics and automated conveyor systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting a wide range of projects, including the Capital Approval Review process, liaising with Engineering, Reliability, Maintenance, Operations, Procurement, and Real Estate teams to deliver safety standards.
- Defining and updating technical standards for machinery safety and process controls, working closely with EU and North American experts.
- Providing expertise to support procurement, building design, and project launches to ensure safety compliance.
- Supporting safety objectives and delivering technical updates and reports on projects and risks.
- Performing machinery inspections, risk assessments, and mentoring team members.
- Developing solutions that meet Amazon's safety, risk reduction, and operational standards.
- Training personnel on safety policies and standards.
- Innovating in machinery safety, inspection techniques, and risk reduction measures.
Basic qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field aligned with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
- Extensive experience in Safety Engineering risk management, focusing on machinery safety in accordance with EU standards and directives.
Preferred qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification.
- Experience with technology, lean principles, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Master's degree or equivalent.
- Certified Machinery Safety Expert (CMSE) certification.
