The BOXER 8x8 is the leading armoured vehicle with a multi-national user background that has been developed in a joint co-operation programme between Germany and the Netherlands by the international consortium ARTEC GmbH in Munich, Germany. ARTEC is a joint-venture of KNDS Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH and Rheinmetall Defence Nederland B.V. It is the prime contractor responsible for the BOXER Programme, the co-ordination of series production and the focal point for export opportunities. Annual sales are normally between 200 and 300 million EUR and as of June 2023 more than 1,300 BOXER vehicles have been contracted. Further large-scale projects are in the pipeline.

Parts of the BOXER System Safety Engineer role:

  • Management of safety-related interfaces of various systems
  • Creation of relevant documentation (in English or German)
  • Maintenance and use of system engineering management tools
  • Performing or contributing to safety analyses, including creating and maintaining FTAs, FMEA, FMEDA, etc.
  • Performing reviews of safety artefacts + Ensuring compliance with regulations

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE:

  • Master's degree in electronics or electrical engineering, aerospace engineering or similar
  • Interest in the field of technical safety and vehicle safety
  • Willingness to train-on-the-job
  • Knowledge of the desired field of activity, e.g. from internships or advanced courses
  • Advanced course in the field of systems engineering is an advantage
  • Initial knowledge of the relevant safety standards, e.g. Mil-STD 882E, IEC 61508 and/or ISO 26262
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Good analytical skills and a holistic view of problem solving
