Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on the dynamic stability and control of energy systems with the goal of obtaining a doctoral qualification (PhD).
  • Model, simulate, and analyze electrical energy systems with renewable energy sources.
  • Develop control concepts to ensure angular, voltage, resonance, and frequency stability.
  • Set up and manage real-time simulation systems for testing and validating energy systems and components.
  • Deliver research-based academic teaching amounting to 4 contact hours per week (SWS), including exercises and laboratory courses in the field of electrical energy supply, with the aim of enabling students to conduct independent scientific work.
  • Design, prepare, assess, and grade scientific examination tasks for students.
  • Organize and conduct academic events.
  • Publish research results.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A completed university degree (Diploma, Master’s, or an equivalent qualification) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or a related field with a strong focus on electrical energy systems, with at least a "good" final grade
  • Very good knowledge in the modeling and simulation of energy systems, especially renewable energy systems
  • Minimum level of physical fitness suitable for laboratory work

Desirable qualifications:

  • Experience with real-time simulators (e.g., OPAL-RT or RTDS)
  • Practical experience with renewable energy systems
  • Experience with simulation software (e.g., PC-PSD)
  • Experience in dynamic grid modeling and analysis using DIgSILENT PowerFactory
  • Proficient German skills and good command of English, both written and spoken
  • A strong commitment and willingness to work seriously and actively toward one's own academic qualification project
