Product Design Lead

At Meta Reality Labs, we are developing the future of Wearables and Augmented Reality (AR) products. As a Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the integration of micro-LED arrays into AR systems. You will help drive a series of development cycles and ultimately qualify the display array component for high-volume manufacturing. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams across multiple sites and working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Product Design Lead Responsibilities:

• Lead the product development of micro-LED arrays, collaborating with teams including device, manufacturing, downstream integration, and quality assurance to ensure seamless integration.
• Identify gaps in micro-LED array performance compared to specifications by analyzing performance data and drive closure of these gaps through design and manufacturing improvements.
• Provide statistical analysis of product test data and yields, highlighting key issues to stakeholders.
• Translate and communicate data insights to guide engineering actions for product and process optimization.
• Leverage or develop innovative data mining, visualization, and machine learning methods to address business problems related to performance modeling, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process and design enhancements.
• Develop and maintain product engineering procedures and documentation.
• Maintain a comprehensive risk register to document potential risks throughout the product lifecycle, including mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
• International travel up to 25% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related fields.
• Experience in product engineering within the microelectronics industry, such as semiconductor wafer processing, active matrix displays, sensor arrays, or LED development.
• Proven track record of delivering multiple high-volume electronic components through development cycles to product launch, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Experience participating in performance and yield management programs in semiconductor or electronics manufacturing.
• Knowledge of failure analysis and reliability testing of electronic components.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related fields.
• Deep experience in industries such as semiconductors (especially compound semiconductors), active matrix displays, or sensor arrays.
• Product engineering experience with electro-optic components like LEDs, lasers, photodiodes, sensors, or micro-displays.
