About the team At E.ON, data capabilities are split into two pillars: “data as an asset to innovation” and “data usages as i.e. AI and data analytics”. Both capabilities are organized in separate units. You, as a Technical Data Governance Manager (f/m/d), will focus on the pillar “data as an asset to innovation” and design and roll-out data governance & management capabilities across multiple digital technologies, platforms, and business units that support the implementation of our data strategy. In this role, you will define and technically operationalize processes that support data-governance and actionable compliance incorporation as well as growth of the organization’s capabilities and skills to manage data assets systematically along its life cycle.
You will be part of the central Data Architecture & Governance team. In this function, you will be in close collaboration with various data and technical teams (e.g., from data platforms and related projects) and our key stakeholders at the central level such as Digital Strategy, Data Protection, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, as well as at the business units level across Europe. Furthermore, you will support multiple business units of the E.ON Group along their data governance and data strategy journey.
Meaningful & challenging - Your tasks
- Design, embed, operate and scale data governance processes across various data programs, systems, data types, and digital innovations across the group.
- Design and automate process and status documentation of the meta-data within a dedicated data catalogue, of the complex ETL processes, and of the governance and compliance requirements and corresponding status quo.
- Collect compliance and business requirements, coordinate dedicated task forces and working groups, and provide guidance.
- Further develop the central data governance framework, including definition, formalization, and roll-out of roles and responsibilities.
- Provide input into data strategy and support its group-wide implementation (focus on technical implementation/design).
- Support upskilling and knowledge sharing on data governance, management terms, and concepts across the group.
- Lead the definition, alignment, and operationalization of sub-strategies for data management & governance.
- Collect industry-wide trends on how data is leveraged for competitive advantage and identify data-driven innovation opportunities.
Authentic & ambitious - Your profile
- Bachelor / Master’s degree in data engineering, data modelling, informatics, data science, economics, or equivalent profession.
- Multiple years of experience in project management, data engineering, technical operationalization of data governance roles and processes, monitoring, and data management functions.
- Excellent understanding of data management, governance, strategy & architecture tools and technologies, as well as their combinations (e.g., Erwin DIS, Collibra, SAP MDM), data lake architecture (e.g., Azure Data Lake), and programming languages (e.g., SQL).
- Good understanding of metadata management concepts, technical connections to scan databases, firewalls, reporting tools like PowerBI, Tableau, or Qlik.
- Experience in building enterprise business glossaries and rolling out data ownership & stewardship in data catalog tools.
- Extensive experience managing large-scale data enablement and transformation projects in a regulated, fast-changing industry.
- Strong consulting, facilitation, and communication skills in both business and technology, with the ability to simplify complex data concepts and communicate effectively across cultures and countries.
- Ability to understand and integrate legal obligations into organizational and technical implications.
