Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

Bachelor student in Human Factors Engineering (d/f/m): Bachelor Thesis Active Slider based Data Entry

The team HFE Development and In-Service Programs GE develops Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for platforms such as fighter aircraft and ground control stations. Responsibilities include requirements engineering, HMI design and specification, validation and verification assessments, and evaluating new HMI technologies for innovative user interfaces.

Your tasks and responsibilities

Thesis Objective: Develop a hardware device with four motorized sliders, four mouse-wheels, and additional buttons to control data visualization on geo-referenced maps, enhancing interaction speed and efficiency.

Thesis Expectations:

  • Evaluate and document interaction device requirements.
  • Design a solution fulfilling these requirements.
  • Implement the design in hardware and software.
  • Define and execute a meaningful test plan.
  • Document findings and discuss results.

Desired skills and qualifications:

  • Full-time enrollment in Human Factors Engineering or similar.
  • Fluent in English and German.
  • Experience with microcontroller-based hardware interfaces (e.g., Arduino).
  • Basic programming skills.
  • Handcraft skills.
