As an electrical engineer in the field of utility solar energy, you will play a key role in the planning,
installation and commissioning of large photovoltaic (PV) systems. Your focus will be on DC and
medium-voltage systems.
Responsibilities:
• Planning and design: developing and designing the electrical systems of PV installations, in
particular DC and medium-voltage components including transformer stations, according to
local requirements (Europe mainly Germany) taking efficiency and safety into account.
• Technical calculations: Carrying out load flow, short-circuit and protection calculations for
DC and medium-voltage systems to ensure the stability and safety of the systems.
• Project management and coordination: Liaising with internal and external project teams, site
managers and subcontractors.
• Monitoring and quality control: Ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards in
accordance with national and international standards (e.g. DIN, IEC).
• Commissioning and testing: Support with the commissioning, calibration and testing of
electrical systems; implementation and documentation of acceptance tests.
• Documentation and reporting: Preparing technical documentation, calculations, reports and
protocols, as well as maintaining and updating project documentation.
• Planning of systems and grid connections
• Planning and dimensioning of systems (inverters, transformers up to the feed-in point)
• Dimensioning of cables (DC and AC) up to the feed-in point (cable route)
• Planning of SLD, communication, monitoring
• Legal planning and technical support of the project up to commissioning
• Support with applications up to approval
• Experience in carrying out formal enquiries and applications for grid connection of PV
systems in cooperation with the relevant grid operator
• Experience with AutoCAD, PVSyst and PVcase or Helios 3D
• Calculation and planning of earthing concepts
Qualifications:
• M.Sc. / Diploma in electrical engineering or a comparable qualification.
• Experience: Professional experience in the planning and realisation of solar energy power
plants, especially in the areas of DC and medium voltage.
• Expertise: Sound knowledge of DC and medium voltage systems, including relevant safety
and installation standards.
• Technical understanding: experience with common electrical design tools and software,
e.g. AutoCAD or PVSyst.
• Analytical skills: Ability to analyse technical problems and develop efficient solutions.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills (minimum English, German) and the ability
to convey complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.
• Flexibility and mobility: Willingness to travel for work and occasional field work on
construction sites, driving license B.
