Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.
Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.
The new team has two locations. Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations. The planned takeover by AUDI AG turns two teams into a factory team – and you can be part of it.
What you need? The mindset of an athlete. If you are someone for whom giving up isn’t an option and limits are just something to be overcome, you can bring Vorsprung durch Technik to Formula 1 with us. Become part of this unique project and make motorsport history.
The position for the Audi F1 Project is at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).
In the field of electric motor development (MGU-K), you will work on the key component of electric high-performance drives and contribute to competitiveness in the highly competitive F1 environment. The thermal design of the MGU-K extends from the early concept phase to the detailed design and validation of the simulation models by means of test bench tests.
• Design of high-performance cooling concepts for electric motors in motorsports
• Evaluate and optimize a variety of cooling concepts with the aid of CFD analysis and thermal equivalent networks
• Check the feasibility of cooling concepts with experts from CAD-design
• Document and present the results of thermal simulations
• Define appropriate test bench trials for validating thermal simulations
• Select materials and cooling fluids on the basis of thermal material properties
• Enhance simulation methods
• Support and coordinate external service providers
• Technical degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a comparable course of study
• In-depth knowledge in the area of cooling concepts for electric motors
• Several years of professional experience in handling tools for the thermal analysis of electric motors, especially in the field of CFD simulations (preferably Star-CCM+)
• Basic knowledge of the action mechanisms between thermal aspects and electromagnetics in electric motors
• Basic skills in dealing with common programming languages (e.g. Python, Java)
• Basic skills in handling CAD tools (Catia V5) and the Linux operating system
• Strong implementation skills and a high level of motivation and personal initiative
• Excellent team skills
• Goal-oriented, independent, and structured working practices
• Ability to make decisions and handle conflicts
• Experience in working together with international companies
• Experience in motorsports advantageous
• Full professional proficiency in German or English and a willingness to attain a basic level in the corresponding other language are prerequisites
