What's the role

Shell is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Electrical Engineer team in Geismar.

The Electrical Engineer is primarily responsible for providing electrical technical support for turnarounds, electrical outages, electrical innovation, and quality/technical assurance, as well as run and maintain support for assigned units. The role involves supporting the site electrical engineering team to ensure safe and reliable operations, acting as the first-level technical resource for electrical inspectors and specialists to assist in problem resolution and solution development, and coordinating support with other technical groups, local capital projects, and Operations.

This role requires proactive communication with Shell Chemical - Geismar Site organizations to ensure proper support for turnarounds, electrical outages, and capital projects. The position may support multiple units, offer collaboration opportunities across disciplines, and involve implementing new electrical technologies.

Additionally, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for the Electrical Engineering Team's Power Management System, including maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and alignment with the PMS Specialist. Depending on experience, the role may also fulfill SGP/SATP requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide electrical technical support to assigned units, collaborating with electrical inspectors and specialists to resolve issues and develop solutions.
  2. Perform proactive technical monitoring, trending, and eTAP studies for assigned units.
  3. Assist in developing, integrating, planning, executing, and driving electrical strategies and tactics.
  4. Support the Management of Change (MOC) process for assigned units.
  5. Review electrical switching procedures to ensure quality and accuracy.
  6. Perform assessments and QA on site electrical vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers.
  7. Maintain the site electrical power management system, including monthly billing, troubleshooting, and collaboration with the Digital Specialist.

What you bring

  • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • At least 3 years' experience as an Electrical Engineer in the Petrochemical or electrical utility industry.
  • Experience with electrical run and maintain (preventive maintenance).
  • Knowledge of refinery and chemical facility operations.
  • Experience with eTAP or similar electrical system modeling.
  • Knowledge of electrical standards: NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA 1910, API.
