We're on a mission to make the speciality coffee experience more affordable, digital, and convenient. In a world where services continue to move into the virtual world, LAP (Life Among People) is bringing back the human touch paired with the personalisation and convenience that modern consumers have gotten used to with digital business.

We're a small but mighty team serving coffees out of our stores in Berlin, Munich, and Hamburg, and we're quickly expanding to the rest of Germany. We're looking for an Area Manager in Hamburg to work directly with our Founding Team.

What you'll do:

As an Area Manager at LAP Coffee, you will be instrumental in the success of our brand in Hamburg, where we aim to become the largest. If you are looking to join at an exciting time and have tons of ownership, impact, and visibility, this is the place for you.

You will be responsible for transforming LAP into the largest coffee retail brand by 2025 and contribute to the opening of our stores in Hamburg. You’ll oversee store operations, including staffing, sales, P&L, and customer satisfaction. Occasionally, you will go behind the counter and motivate the team to deliver exceptional service while driving business growth and profitability.

  1. P&L ownership: You will be responsible and accountable for overseeing the P&L, financial activities, performance, and business strategy of a set of stores.
  2. Project planning: Agree on action plans for building a business set for growth in collaboration with our Founders and City Manager.
  3. Team alignment: Plan and facilitate Area Meetings, bringing innovative ideas to the table and encouraging open, honest, and collaborative business planning. You will also create an environment for everyone to succeed, supported by a strong succession plan for your area.
  4. Collaboration: Share company initiatives, be a culture ambassador, and contribute to building an engaging and inspiring environment.
  5. Continuous improvement: Drive continuous improvement by meeting quality objectives and standards and initiating efforts to make the customer experience at our stores outstanding.

What you bring:

  1. You bring at least 7 years of leadership operational experience in retail F&B, ideally with a mix of retail food and beverage chains at an international level. Experience in the coffee industry is a massive plus.
  2. Strong familiarity with relevant metrics impacting a retail F&B business, how to interpret them, and drive action.
  3. Experience with employee performance management, benefits, and incentive programs that contribute to a winning culture.
  4. You are willing to occasionally travel to explore new locations and meet potential partners.
  5. You are entrepreneurial, solution-oriented, and excited to work on the full cycle of building a start-up, diving into whatever topics need to be addressed.
  6. You have a creative flair and an eye for spotting growth opportunities. You ideate, test, and fail fast within tight deadlines and budget constraints.
  7. You are fluent in English and German at a professional level.
