Your profile

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • Preferably have an accounting or financial professional qualification
  • Substantial and relevant experience in Financial Management, Financial Planning and Analysis, preferably at Business Partner level
  • Good knowledge and experience of accounting regulations (German GAAP and IFRS)
  • Proficiency with financial software and tools, such as ERP (Unit 4, Datev) and Excel for financial management and analysis
  • Able to build strong relationships with the business and manage various stakeholders
  • Self-motivated with a positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience presenting to senior directors
  • High resilience and able to work independently

Your Responsibilities

We are looking for a new colleague to join our Finance Team in Berlin and Potsdam on a full-time basis (40 hours a week) starting as soon as possible.

The opportunity:

This position is part of the Senior Leadership team at the University and within the wider GUS Germany Group. It is a full business partner position as the key finance lead within the university supporting the development of the business and its financial strategy and performance.

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

  • Supporting business strategy and the derived financial planning, analysis, and forecasting
  • Understanding the cost and revenue drivers in the business and dealing with budget variances
  • Understanding, monitoring, and developing financial performance
  • Providing finance and business support to the CEO and the operational teams in the University
  • Managing month-end closing process, group and statutory audits
  • Supporting the preparation of management reports and forecasts
  • Responsible for compliance with relevant company policies and procedures and for statutory/Ministry statistics reporting
  • Working closely with the Finance Head Office on Budgets, Financial and Business Planning, Forecasting, Reporting
  • Leading, motivating, and developing a team of 3-4 Accountants
  • Working with group and university stakeholders to manage banking, accounts payable, credit control, payroll, internal financial management, and wider group reporting
