In the Global Bank Team at SumUp, we are building infrastructure and core services to provide merchants with a digital bank account tailored to small business needs. Our goal is to become the most popular banking partner for small merchants worldwide by offering effortless, simple, and affordable banking experiences.

As our platform grows, so does our feature set and technology estate. We are seeking Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET) to improve software quality through automated testing practices. You will shape test strategies, build test packs, identify quality gaps, and automate tests across various layers, from mobile UI to data tier. Your role will help us accelerate delivery while maintaining high quality standards.

What You'll Do

• Define and implement robust testing strategies for stream-aligned squads, ensuring software reliability.
• Write and maintain unit, component, contract, integration, and end-to-end tests, ensuring scalable and efficient automation frameworks.
• Support performance and load testing, including workload modeling, test execution, and results analysis.
• Collaborate with software and DevOps engineers for seamless deployment and continuous integration.
• Audit squads’ testing strategies and implementations periodically, from scenario quality to test report reliability.
• Assist engineers in designing, testing, and improving high-availability software, fostering a culture of quality assurance.
• Use metrics to identify improvement areas and guide engineers with actionable insights.

You'll Be Great for This Role If

• You have solid programming experience in languages like Kotlin, Go, Elixir, Java, Python, or JavaScript, with experience in various testing types.
• You have mobile automation experience with coding tools and can develop robust automated frameworks.
• You are experienced in performance and load testing, including workload modeling and results analysis.
• You have experience managing build pipelines, integrating tests, and working with Continuous Deployment.
• You develop on microservice architectures with good test architecture skills.
• You are proficient with Git, design patterns, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS; familiarity with Grafana and Honeycomb is a plus.
• You have solid knowledge of relational databases.
• You take ownership of your work and value teamwork and collaboration.

Nice to Have

• Experience in fintech industry.
• Knowledge of Kafka and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with GitHub Actions and mobile test automation.
