Jobbeschreibung

University of Münster seeks to hire a researcher for the Nanoelectronics Research Group (Prof. Wurstbauer) in the Institute of Physics, Faculty of Physics. The position is full-time, fixed-term for three years, with a teaching requirement of 4 hours per week during the semester. It is partially funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) for the project “Coherent Many-body phenomena in degenerate exciton ensembles in van der Waals heterostructures (Koh-E3).”

Responsibilities:

  • Work towards a Habilitation.
  • Experimentally investigate quantum phases of dense exciton ensembles in van der Waals heterostructures such as MoSe2/WSe2 bilayers.
  • Perform optical spectroscopies, including photoluminescence, reflectance, and resonant inelastic light scattering at cryogenic temperatures with external stimuli (electric, magnetic fields, strain).
  • Investigate ferroelectric compounds and quantum materials with unconventional magnetism.
  • Analyze and model data.
  • Coordinate with collaborators and disseminate results via publications, workshops, and reports.
  • Support Prof. Wurstbauer’s research group.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and PhD in physics.
  • Extensive experience with optical and electronic experiments in cryogenic environments (<10K).
  • Expertise in low-frequency Raman spectroscopy and related techniques under external stimuli.
  • Long-standing experience with layered quantum materials, magnetic, and ferroelectric compounds.
  • Knowledge of additional experimental techniques for studying unconventional magnetism is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and measurement automation using Origin and Python.
  • Experience with collaborative research projects and supervising students is desirable.
  • Critical thinking, self-motivation, independence, teamwork, and strong technical skills are required.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is a plus.

Benefits:

  • Values of appreciation, openness, and respect.
  • Flexible work-time models, including options for remote work.
  • Support for work-life balance through the Family Service Office.
  • Benefits for public servants, including pension scheme, end-of-year bonus, and economic stability.
