Candidate will join a dedicated team of Systems professionals that operate and maintain US BICES Systems environment. Team responsible a wide variety of technologies and manufacturer hardware. Position is responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of the organization’s IT systems and infrastructure including managing servers, ensuring system availability and implementing solutions to improve system performance and security.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Windows and Red Hat Linux servers.
- Provide desktop support and troubleshoot issues related to Windows desktops and VDIs.
- Support various media distribution systems, including full-motion video and imagery.
- Familiarity with Intel tools and systems such as GXP Xplorer, Jagwire, or similar is a plus.
- Train and guide customers, developing in-depth knowledge of the tools and organizational purpose.
- Field technical questions and provide strategic input to help guide the direction of the organization.
- Plans and executes systems upgrades and hardware/software installations. Performs maintenance such as patch management, updates and backups.
- Experience in configuration and deployment of storage solutions and operational maintenance of associated equipment.
- Administer VMware virtual environments to include ESXi hosts, vCenter appliances, VxRail, and/or VSANs.
- Develop scripts (PowerShell, VBScript, etc.) to perform recurring systems administration tasks, automate installs, gather metrics, etc.
- Download, stage and deploy systems-related security policies and updates to maintain information system compliance with DISA security policies and procedures (STIGs, IAVAs, etc.)
- Understanding of system server administration concepts (DHCP, DNS, DC, Active Directory, and Group Policy)
- Administer Microsoft software platforms with an emphasis in the following areas: Windows Server 2016, 2019, Microsoft SCCM (MECM)
- Creates and maintains detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes.
- Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology, always on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes.
- Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
- Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
- Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
- Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
- Provides advice and training to end-users.
- Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members. This position may require evening system maintenance and occasional on-call after hours.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to provide strategic technical input.
- Monitor tickets and resolve them in a timely manner. Knowledge of ServiceNow a plus.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to forecast and be proactive versus being reactive.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Answering emails, phone calls and replying to management and high-rank customers.
- Applying analytical skills in all aspects of the job. Be able to analyze, research, and perform root cause analysis.
Required Qualifications:
- Must achieve and maintain the Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) as defined in the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) between the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany. In order to qualify for TESA, the candidate must have one of the following: Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of specialized experience, OR; an Associate's degree plus 7 years of specialized experience, OR; A major certification plus 7 years of specialized experience, OR; 11 years of specialized experience
- 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience required.
- BA/BS degree – may substitute additional years of experience.
- Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance.
- Must meet DoD 8570 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II (Security+ or equivalent) access.
Preferred Qualifications:
- VMWare VCP-DCV
- Microsoft MCSA, MCSE
- Red Hat RHCSA
- Experience with ServiceNow, SCCM, Active Directory, DHCP, Print Server, and related Microsoft technologies.
- Experience with VMWare, Horizon View, and other virtualization technologies a plus.
- ITIL Foundations v4 certification preferred.

Top Secret/SCI Salary and Benefit Information
The likely salary range for this position is $69,264 - $92,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
