Senior Software Engineer (Vision/3D) - Industrial Automation (m/f/d)

About the position: As a Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the design and implementation of software solutions in the fields of computer vision, 3D and automation. With your expertise, you will help to improve the efficiency and productivity of our customers' industrial processes. To ensure this, you will regularly travel ~ 40% of the time to our customers and to BÄR Automation GmbH in Gemmingen, near Heilbronn. (Agile Robots SE has been the majority shareholder of BÄR Automation GmbH since 2023).

Alternatively, we are open to candidates who are primarily located in the Gemmingen or Stuttgart area and are willing to travel regularly to our customers and to our headquarters in Munich.

Varied tasks

  • Computer vision and 3D imaging: Development and implementation of computer vision algorithms and models to extract meaningful information from visual data. Working with software engineers to integrate computer vision technology into large automation systems. Optimizing computer vision models for real-time performance on embedded devices or web applications.
  • Industrial automation: Working with cross-functional teams to identify automation needs and develop solutions. Design and implement industrial automation systems to improve efficiency and productivity. Conducting feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses in the context of automation projects.
  • Software development: Coding using relevant programming languages (e.g. Python, C++). Collaboration with other engineers to ensure seamless integration of vision and automation components.
  • Documentation and Testing: Detailed documentation for computer vision algorithms, system architecture and automation processes. Development and maintenance of automated test suites for image processing-related functions.
  • Continuous learning and innovation: Stay up to date with advances in computer vision, 3D imaging and automation technologies.

Matching the profile

  • Several years of professional experience with 3D imaging technologies (e.g. LiDAR, depth sensors, stereo vision).
  • You are proficient in computer vision techniques, including object recognition, image segmentation and feature extraction.
  • Very good programming skills in Python and C++.
  • Experience with hardware and AI software solutions for industrial automation.
  • University degree in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics or a related field.
  • Willingness to travel at least 40% of the time.
  • Very good communication skills in both German and English.
  • You are characterized by an independent, thorough and team-oriented work attitude.
  • You have a hands-on mentality and initiative.
